Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will begin a six-day tour of the Northern and Upper regions from today.
He is expected to commission completed projects, inspect ongoing ones and cut sod for the commencement of more projects. Besides, he will have interactions with the chiefs and people of some educational institutions.
A statement from the presidency said: “Commencing at Winkogo in the Talensi Constituency of the Upper East Region, President Akufo-Addo will interact with students and tutors of the Bolgatanga Senior High School after which he will move to Binaba to attend a durbar of chiefs and people of the area.
“He will pay a courtesy call on the Bawku Naaba and meet with elders of Mamprusi in Bawku. The President will climax activities on his first day of the tour with a call on the Pusiga chief followed by an inspection of ongoing works on the Kulungugu Bridge.
“Day two of the tour will start with a durbar of chiefs and people of Navrongo, an inspection of the water processing plant and the Tono Dam rehabilitation project.”
Before inspecting the ongoing construction of the Doninga Bridge in the Builsa South Constituency and the Rice Valleys under the Planting for Food and Jobs Programme, President Akufo-Addo is scheduled to make a brief stop at the Sandema Chief’s Palace in the Builsa North Constituency, with a durbar of chiefs and people at Fumbisi to climax his tour of the Upper East Region.
President Akufo-Addo will move to the Northern Region with a durbar of chiefs and people of Saboba Traditional Area followed by an inspection of the ongoing water project also in Saboba and Gushegu, where he will visit the Smock Weaving Centre.
The President will also cut the sod for the construction of the Kpandai-Salaga Road at Kpandai after commissioning a ‘One-Village One-Dam’ project.
At Wulensi, he will hand over agric machinery under the Agric Mechanisation Scheme and in Bimbila, he will attend a durbar of chiefs and a sod cutting for the construction of Bimbila-Salaga Road plus an inspection of GETFund projects at Bimbilla Senior High School.
President Akufo-Addo on Saturday will inspect the construction of a court building and residential complex at Wechiau in the Upper West Region, attend a durbar of chiefs and people of Issa and conduct an inspection of the ongoing construction of a district hospital in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa Constituency.
The President will inspect work on another construction of a district hospital at Funsi in the Wa East.
He will also attend a Catholic Church Service in Wa and later commission facilities at the Wa Regional Hospital.
He will attend a durbar of chiefs at Kaleo and Lambusie and inspect the Small Town Water System in Lambusie to climax his tour before returning to Accra.
He is expected back in Accra later on Sunday, August 18, 2019.
