The people of Nkawkaw constituency in the Eastern Region can breath a sigh of relief as their Member of Parliament, Joseph Frempong, has made a public appearance after a prolonged absence due to illness.
The Incumbent MP, Joseph Frempong’s return is a welcome development, especially since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had considered replacing him with the Managing Director of Ghana Publishing Company, David Asante due to concerns over his health and ability to campaign for the upcoming general elections.
Joseph Frempong’s health issues had created tension among constituents, with some threatening not to vote due to his invisibility.
However, his recent appearance alongside Bryan Acheampong, Minister for Food and Agriculture, has alleviated fears and reassured the public of his commitment to serving the constituency.
This isn’t Frempong’s first time in the spotlight. Since taking office in 2021, he has been praised for his exceptional performance, fulfilling campaign promises, and improving the lives of Nkawkaw residents.
Some of his notable achievements include: Registering 15,000 residents for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and donating modern electric beds to the health directorate, providing bags of cement for school rehabilitation and paying school fees for needy students, distributing sewing machines and dryers to seamstress and hairdressing apprentices, and supplying farmers with cutlasses, wellington boots, and oli palm seedlings.
The MP’s dedication to his constituents and his party has earned him recognition.
Joseph Frempong has been battling health challenges for the past three months.
At the party engagement held on Saturday, Dr. Bryan Acheampong pledged his full support to assist him urging the party to rally behind the ailing MP during this difficult time.
The first-time MP, Joseph Frempong, born on July 16, 1969, in Obo Kwahu, has been the Nkawkaw constituency’s MP since 2021.
His educational background includes a Master’s degree in Public Affairs (2011) and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies (2004).
Before entering politics, Frempong worked as a teacher and lecturer at various institutions, including the University of Education, Winneba.
As a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Frempong has served on the Gender and Children Committee and the Communications Committee.
In the 2020 Ghana general elections, he secured the parliamentary seat with 44,067 votes.
