‘Observe Piety Beyond Ramadan’

Muslims across the country have been urged to observe piety during Ramadan and place God ahead of everything they do in order to continuously attract the blessings of God beyond the fast.

Vice Chairman of the National Mosque Management Committee and Deputy Director of Political Desk, office of the Vice-President, Sheikh Yunusah Osman Mohammed gave the advice at a ceremony held last Sunday at the National Mosque in Accra.

According to him, Prophet Mohammed while on earth showed love towards mankind at all times.

This, he stated, makes it imperative for Muslims to emulate his good deeds not only during the fast but at all times towards each other.

“Our good deeds shouldn’t be a one stop shop at all times. We should observe piety at all times.  As the Ramadan approaches, every one of us tries as much as possible to exhibit some good deeds, it is good though but it shouldn’t end there. It should continue even after the fast when Allah has forgiven us our sins

The ceremony, organised by the Ghana National Mosque in collaboration with Qatar Foundation, Jil  lil Quran and Hudai Foundation, brought together over 250 schools in Accra.

Sheikh Yunusah also said it was imperative for Muslims to inculcate and demonstrate the teachings of Islam to the younger generation as the fast draws closer.

He noted that it was at the back of that imperative that the children had to welcome the fast as an obligation by all Muslims to fulfil God’s injunction on Muslims.

Amidst poetry recitals and Islamic songs, the children demonstrated the five pillars of Islam while others also sang songs and performed drama on how Muslims should conduct themselves during and after the fast.

Participating schools included Jil Al Quran, Maarif International School and children from Qatar Charity.

Omar Zowk, Director of Jil Al Quran, for his part, said the ceremony also afforded the children an opportunity to welcome Ramadan which enjoins Muslims to love each other and live peacefully among themselves as they work to pursue projects that would advance the Muslim faith.
