Parliament Approves Deputy Minister Nominees

Parliament has unanimously approved the nominations of four Members of Parliament as Deputy Ministers following a report by the Appointments Committee, which found all the nominees competent and suitable for their respective portfolios.

The approved Deputy Ministers are Dorcas Toffey, Ministry of Transport; James Gyakye Quayson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mohammed Adams Sukparu, Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations; and Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, Ministry of Health.

The nominations were submitted to Parliament on July 9, 2025, in accordance with Article 79(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

The Speaker, Alban S. K. Bagbin, subsequently referred the nominations to the Appointments Committee on July 17, 2025, for vetting.

During a public hearing held on July 25, the nominees answered questions related to their qualifications, experience, and policy vision.

The Committee also reviewed relevant documentation and sought public input as part of its due diligence.

In its final report, the Appointments Committee unanimously recommended the approval of all four nominees, citing their strong credentials and commitment to public service.

The House adopted the Committee’s recommendation by consensus.

This development clears the way for the newly approved Deputy Ministers to assume their roles in the respective Ministries, supporting the implementation of key government priorities.
