Shatta Wale Crowned Artiste Of The Year In UK

Shatta Wale made history when he took home the artiste of the year award at the second edition of Ghana Music Awards UK held at the Gaumont Palace (Dominion Center), 9 The Broadway, High Road, Wood Green, London N22 6DS.

The other awards at the event included collaboration of the year, reggae/dancehall artiste of the year, Afrobeat artiste of the year and Afro-pop artiste of the year awards.

The Ghana Music Awards UK was organised by Alordia Promotions to reward Ghanaian music icons for their commitment, hard work and dedication in the music career.

It was a night of musical fireworks as some of the awardees and other artistes took turns to dish out splendid performances, one after the other.

Stonebwoy also took home the reggae and dancehall song of the year award.

Popular traditional artiste, Sherifa Guru, also won the traditional artiste of the year award on the night.

The event which attracted a large number of personalities, including some of the Ghanaian music stakeholders and fans, witnessed brilliant performance from music icons such as Kumi Guitar, Obibini, Sherifa Gunu, UK-based artiste Kwamz & Flava and a host of others.

Kumi Guitar performed from his repertoire – ‘One Litre’ and his latest highlife tune titled ‘Dream’, whilst Obibini explained the meaning of rap with his single ‘Statement’.

Some of the artistes who were honoured at the event include Sarkodie, who took home the best rapper and hiplife song of the year awards. Kofi Kinaata was also honoured with highlife song and highlife artiste of the year awards. M.anifest grabbed the hip-hop artiste of the year award and female dancehall artiste Ebony was also rewarded with the new artiste of the year award.
