Sista Afia Faces Discrimination For Being ‘Fat’

Sista Afia

Songstress Sista Afia has allegedly disclosed that she was not getting shows to perform in Ghana due to discrimination against her body type.

She indicated that event organisers don’t consider her as an option because they say she is “fat.”

Afia, who made the revelation at the listening of her ‘Queen Solomon’ album in East Legon has, however, managed to stay relevant in the music scene.

“…There was a lady who was discriminating against me and calling me fat on radio. That was a long time ago and I was a bit disappointed. I was like yoo just because someone is big doesn’t mean they are lesser in what they are capable of doing. I have a voice, when I go to America there are big people. There is Adele who is singing and people are not trying to tell her stuff to feel some type of way. But for her to say that I was pissed but at the end of the day here I am,” she also added.

Sista Afia is set release to her album titled ‘Queen Solomon’, which will be launched on December 1, 2018. The launch will be held at the West Hills Mall with a mega concert.

The 26-year-old, born Franchesca Duncan Williams, grew up in Accra, Kumasi and London. She went to Rev. John Teye Memorial Institute and Angel Educational Complex before relocating to the UK.

She was 15 when she was taken to the UK, where she had her high school and university education. She read Nursing at the university but she abandoned her certificate to pursue her passion for music.
