The Tema Shipyard and Drydock Company Limited has presented assorted items and cash of GH¢5,500 to the Marfo Children Care Foundation at Community 11 in Tema in the Greater Accra Region.

The company donated bags of rice, cartons of tin fish, toiletries, soap, detergent, among others, as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Presenting the items on behalf of the company, the Head of Planning at Tema Shipyard, Senam Fiagbenya, explained that the management of Shipyard and Drydock deemed it prudent to give back to society.

According to him, “As a corporate body, we believe we should care and support the community in which we operate in. And so we couldn’t have gone through a whole successful year without giving back to the community.”

Senam expressed the commitment of the company to continue to support the foundation, adding that “Our message to the children today is that we love them and we’re part of them and we will do our best to make sure that it doesn’t end here.”

Receiving the items on behalf of the foundation, Rev. Isaac Appenteng, Board Chairman of the Marfo Children Care Foundation, expressed gratitude to the management of the company for the kind gesture.

He promised to ensure that the children benefit from the items, appealing to philanthropists, individuals and institutions to offer support to less privileged in society.

The Marfo Children Care Foundation currently has 17 children, with some already in the tertiary and second cycle institutions.
