There is tight security at the Pentecost Church where the New Patriotic Party(NPP) Walewale parliamentary primary rerun is taking place.
Hundreds of police personnel were stationed at the venue with additional military personnel to ensure that there’s peace before , during and after the parliamentary primary.
About 842 delegates from 161 polling stations and 31 electoral areas are casting their votes to elect a parliamentary candidate for the NPP to represent the Walewale constituency.
The Economic Advisor to the Vice President, Dr. Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama and the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Walewale Constituency and former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Lariba Zuweira Abudu, will battle to represent the NPP in the Walewale constituency for the December 7 general election.
It will be recalled that the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Walewale Constituency and former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Lariba Zuweira Abudu, proceeded to the Tamale High Court to contest the results declared at the NPP parliamentary primary in the Walewale Constituency.
The New Patriotic Party Walewale parliamentary primary rerun follows the Tamale High Court annulment of the previous results declared by the Electoral Commission and ordered for a rerun.
