DISASTER STRUCK when a Kia truck failed its brakes and crashed a woman and her son to death on Wednesday.
The incident happened at Boobai, a community in the Asokore Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti Region.
The woman, identified as Maa Abena, a nurse by profession, was returning home from work when disaster struck suddenly.
The truck, said to be laden with sachet water, failed its brakes and headed towards where the mother and son were standing.
Sensing danger, Maa Abena, 29, and her son, who is one-year and eleven months old, took to their heels to help save their lives.
But unfortunately for the mother and son, the speeding truck also headed towards their direction. The car trapped and killed them.
The accident attracted curious people to the scene who tried to save the lives of the victims, but it was too late.
The two lifeless bodies have since been conveyed to the morgue for preservation and autopsy, as investigations are still underway.
Meanwhile, one Wofa Appiah Agyei, who claimed to be an uncle of Maa Abena, said the bereaved family is in difficult times now.
Confirming the death on Akoma FM, he said Maa Abena took her sick child to hospital for treatment, and they were returning home when the accident occurred.
