Some lecturers of the University of Media, Arts, and Communication-Institute of Journalism (UniMAC-IJ) have paid a courtesy visit to the New Juaben Omanhene, Daasebre Nana Kwaku Boateng III, in Koforidua, the Eastern Region.
The visit was led by the head of the Department of Integrated Social Sciences of the University, Dr. Kodwo Ansong Boateng.
The purpose of the visit was to invite the Omanhene to chair the departmental project dubbed, ‘Ghana Month’ slated for March 2024.
Addressing the Omanhene, Dr. Ansong Boateng, said the ‘Ghana Month’ project is an initiative that seeks to celebrate the culture, tradition, and heritage of the Ghanaian people among the university community, in March.
“This will be a month-long celebration packed with a series of events that will enlighten students, both the teaching and non-teaching staff on various aspects of being a Ghanaian and our rich cultural heritage,” he said.
He, also, indicated that the selection of the Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area as the chair for the project was done strategically due to his track record of work which aligns with the vision of the project.
“He is known to be a person who portrays the Ghanaian heritage wherever he goes and also promotes development among the youth and people around him,” he said.
Daasebre Nana Kwaku Boateng III, who accepted to chair the ‘Ghana Month’ project, acknowledged the relevance of celebrating and promoting the Ghanaian culture.
He also pledged his commitment to support the project.
