Wilson-Arthur
The Wassa East District Assembly in the Western Region has finally endorsed Wilson Arthur as its district chief executive after two rounds of voting.
It would be recalled that in the first round of voting about 10 days ago, the president’s nominee who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Skyy Media Group failed to win a clear majority of votes to secure the position.
He polled 19 votes out of 30, with 11 votes against, occasioning a re-run by the Electoral Commission’s representative, who oversaw the poll.
In the second round of voting yesterday, Wilson Arthur who was supposed to get at least 20 votes, being two thirds of 30 assembly members present and voting, got 23 votes representing 76 percent of the votes cast.
The new DCE thanked President Akufo-Addo for reposing confidence in him and assured the people of his commitment to ensuring the development of the district.
He called on the assembly members to work as a team to ensure that they contribute their quota towards the effective and efficient management of the assembly’s resources.
Mr Arthur promised to work hard to move the district forward, adding that “but I will need the collective support of all assembly members to succeed in salvaging the suffering of the masses in our district.”
