The first cohort of 24 mentees who enrolled in the 2017/18 edition of Tullow Ghana Human Resources (HR) mentoring programme have received their certificates and accreditation.

Presenting an overview of the programme at the Accra Marriot Hotel located at Airport City in Accra, Mrs. Irene Asare, HR and Business Services Director, Tullow Ghana, opined that the mentoring programme was a high impact capacity building initiative aimed at developing the HR profession, by bringing together senior level practitioners in Ghana to nurture a select number of early career HR practitioners.

Mrs. Asare, who had been adjudged the Best HR Practitioner of the year and who also came up with the modalities of the   mentoring programme, further indicated that it is run as a year-long basis and seeks among other things to imbibe experiential learning geared towards acquiring knowledge, skills and behaviours that would enable the mentees impact positively on their organizations.

As winner of the prestigious Ghana HR Star Awards organized by the Institute of Human Resources Management Practitioners (IHRMP), I have had a further boost in my career to develop modules on mentorship and their impact on the HR career journey for the early entrants, she remarked.

The Managing Director (MD), Kwaku Awotwi, who paid glowing tribute to Mrs. Irene Asare for her excellent achievement which has equally impacted positively on Tullow Ghana, asserted that Tullow Ghana’s acceptance to sponsor the programme forms part of its passion for being a continuous strategic partner in Ghana’s development agenda of going beyond the provision of infrastructure to development of capacities of the human capital.

Dr. Edward Kwapong, President of IHRMP, noted that the institutionalization of the HR mentoring programme would expose the mentees to how far they have come in reaching their mentoring goals as we urge them onto achieving greater laurels in the practice.

Mr. Austin Gamey, Founder and CEO of Pulse Institute African, who paid glowing tribute to the management of the Tullow Ghana mentoring programme, indicated that it was an opportunity for mentees to prove their value in contributing to the success of their respective families.
