THREE persons died in a gory accident at Suhum – Boye Fitter on the Accra-Kumasi highway in the Eastern Region at dawn on Monday.
The three men passed away on the spot with the only survivor, a woman, who is currently battling for her life at the Suhum Government Hospital.
The deceased were onboard a Hyundai H100 Urvan bus with registration number WR-2472- 13, which went to unload some goods on Sunday evening in Accra and was returning to Suhum when it collided head-on with a Trailer loaded with some pallets from Kumasi to Accra. The accident occurred around 3:00 am.
The driver of the Trailer told DAILY GUIDE that he tried to avoid the Urvan bus because it seemed the driver was dozing off.
“The Urvan driver was coming towards me in my lane so I became confused; I then realized he might be sleeping so I quickly moved towards the other side of the road, but he was still moving towards that direction; eventually, he crashed into my car”.
According to him, he didn’t see how a third vehicle, another Urvan bus with registration number ER-492-10, also got involved in the accident.
The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
The police have commenced investigations into the matter.
