Anthony Aja Tochukwu, Victor Henry, and Jerry Usianele in police custody
A 24 year old Anthony Aja Tochukwu, a Nigerian national suspected to be part of a six member gang that attacked Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) person has been arrested by the Tesano Police.
In addition, two other Nigerians who also broke into a shop of a trader at Kwame Nkrumah Circle and stole a Samsung galaxy mobile phone have also been arrested by the police.
They are Victor Henry, 27 and Jerry Usianele, 23.
According to the Tesano Police, the two were said to have committed the act yesterday at dawn and were grabbed upon a tip-off.
Superintendent Edward Tetteh, the commander in charge of the Tesano District Police Command said on January 24, 2018 around 7:30pm, six unidentified men attacked and robbed the BNI person at gun point and took his motorbike with registration number M-17-GR-73-15.
The Commander said at about 8:00p.m on January 25, police received information that five armed men on motorbikes were robbing pedestrians at Dimples area near Achimota forest.
Police personnel were dispatched to the area, and upon seeing the police, the suspects bolted but Tochukwa was given a hot chase and apprehended and brought to the police station together with the motorbike he was using.
Superintendent Tetteh said it was at the police station that the BNI victim identified the suspect as one of his attackers and the motorbike as his own.
He is still in police custody assisting in investigations.
The Tesano commander added that efforts were being made to get the others apprehended.
Touching on the arrest of suspects Victor Henry, and Jerry Usianele, the commander said yesterday at dawn, police had information that Usianele and Henry broke into a container at Kwame Nkrumah Circle and made away with one Sumsang Galaxy Phone worth GH¢350.
He said the owner of the container saw the two men committing the act and raised an alarm leading to their arrest by some of the traders.
The two were later handed over to the Police for investigation.
