A total of 35,893 candidates from both private and public schools across the 16 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Northern Region are participating in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The candidates include 18,647 males and 17,246 females, who are writing the exams at 128 centres with the supervision of 1,262 invigilators throughout the region.

Dr. Issahaque Munawaru, the Acting Deputy Director General for Quality and Access at the Ghana Education Service (GES), along with the Northern Regional Director of Education, Alhassan Alidu, visited Ghana SHS, Vittin SHS, and St. Charles Minor Seminary SHS in the Northern Region.

Dr. Munawaru advised the candidates to avoid relying on foreign external materials during the week-long exams, noting that the consequences of being caught could be severe.

He also warned teachers and invigilators against engaging in any form of malpractice.

“Teachers and invigilators should not attempt to provide any support to any student, as no malpractice will be tolerated by any staff of GES,” he stressed.
