COP Akuribah Yaagy addressing the media

More than 5,000 people in the Central Region will from this week go through the first stage of the recruitment process of the Ghana Police Service.

Out of the figure, 3,712 people applied for general duty and 1,045 for artisans.

COP Akuribah Yaagy, Director General of the National Patrol Department, who also doubles as the supervisor for the requirement exercise in the Central Regional, made this known to the media at a press briefing in Cape Coast.

The police are expected to use about a week to undertake the recruitment exercise in 10 regions.

It would start with screening applicants from general duty through to graduate applicants and end with aptitude test on Sunday.

COP Yaagy assured the public of transparency throughout the process.

He, however, warned applicants, who do not have the requisite qualifications not to come to the centre because they would be arrested and detained for deceiving public officer.

He added that this year’s recruitment process will not witness any massive fraud cases since the police had engaged IT companies to help detect fraud.
