51,000 WASSCE Results Withheld Under Mahama Over School Fees

Napo addressing the NPP members at Bantama

A WHOPPING 51,000 graduates could not get their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results in 2016 under the watch of ex-President Mahama.

These unfortunate Ghanaian children suffered their fate mainly because their parents and guardians could not pay their school fees, thereby jeopardizing their future aspirations in the process.

Interestingly, the then National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, led by ex-President Mahama, heartlessly watched as the future of these innocent children got destroyed due to poverty.

This alarming revelation was disclosed by the current Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, aka ‘Napo’, who also doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South.

Addressing teeming NPP members at the Bantama Constituency, Napo, who engineered for the successful implementation of the free Senior High School (SHS) policy, said “this is a great policy.”

According to him, but for the introduction of the free SHS programme, several thousands of innocent school-going Ghanaian children would have been dropped out from schools due to abject poverty.

“Fifty-one thousand WASSCE results were withheld in 2016 under the watch of former President Mahama, who is now seeking a comeback as President, because of non-payment of school fees,” he said.

The Education Minister, with a stern face, expressed gross worry and concern over the gloomy situation then, stating emphatically that under no circumstance should such a thing occur again in the country.

He therefore showered tons of praises on President Nana Akufo-Addo for having the vision, desire and commitment to introduce the free SHS policy, which had so far erased all barriers in the education sector.

According to him, the NPP administration believes that proper education of the youth, who are the future leaders, is the best way to secure a prosperous Ghana in future, hence the introduction of free SHS policy.

In this regard, he said President Akufo-Addo, who indeed loves and cares about Ghana, had introduced the free SHS programme basically to secure a Ghana that was prosperous and stronger to compete globally.

Napo therefore sternly cautioned Ghanaians against voting for ex-President Mahama and the NDC on December 7, noting that the famous free SHS policy would collapse under NDC administration.

“If you fail to vote for President Nana Akufo-Addo, the free SHS, Books and Research Allowance, Teachers and Nursing Trainee Allowance and all other good policies you are witnessing will collapse,” he warned.

Napo therefore entreated the electorates to vote massively for President Akufo-Addo and all the NPP Parliamentary Candidates (PC) so that Ghana would remain on the path of prosperity for future generations to enjoy.

The Manhyia South NPP MP had earlier in the day, joined Francis Asenso-Boakye, the NPP PC Candidate for Bantama, to lead scores of party members on a walk dubbed the ‘Big Walk’.
