THE ABUAKWA Divisional Police, in the Ashanti Region, has embarked on a swoop to stop the sale and usage of narcotics in communities under its jurisdiction.

During the successful security operation, which was conducted on February 4, 2026, six suspects, who are all males, were apprehended and detained.

They are Yaw Emos, 34; Abu Kusi, 29; Kwabena Ababio, 38; Kwabena Amoah, 31; Edwin Kobi, 23; and Akwasi Akwa, who is 45 years old.

The exercise took place in known illicit drug bases which are located at Sepaase, Abuakwa, Tanoso and Manhyia. The operation was conducted from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

According to Abuakwa Divisional Police statement, police during the swoop found some wrapped substances, believed to be narcotics, from the selected ghettos they stormed.

“Various suspected criminal hideouts within these areas were combed and most of the suspects on seeing the police took to their heels, leaving behind substances suspected to be narcotics.

“Few arrests were made from within the vicinities where such substances were found…suspects were arrested though they were not directly connected with the exhibits found.”

According to the police report, which has been sighted by the DAILY GUIDE, the six suspects were screened and profiled, adding that the substances found in the ghettos were being kept at the station.
