22 Grabbed Over Police Attack

The Begoro District Police in the Eastern Region have arrested 22 residents of Akomasu over an alleged attack on two police officers a couple of months ago.

The officers, DAILY GUIDE gathered, were said to have been ambushed by the gangsters after they had arrested two of their members for breaking a bail bond.

The suspects, who were granted bail in a case in which they were charged for possessing weapons without authorization and stealing of cattle, went into hiding at Begoro.

DAILY GUIDE learnt that the police had a tipoff from some residents and went to the community where they were attacked and shot at in their attempt to arrest some suspects.

The officers suffered severe gunshot wounds, with one in critical condition. They are receiving treatment at the Begoro Government Hospital.

The Begoro District Police Commander, DSP Samuel Odame, who caused the arrest of the suspects, told DAILY GUIDE that the suspects would be made to face the law for their action.
