Club Executives Sam Worentetu and Sam Okudzeto
Rotary Club has launched a National Punctuality and Time Management Project under the theme, ‘The impact of Effective Time Management on National Development.’
It was launched in Accra on Tuesday at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
According to the District Governor of Rotary International, (District 9102), Sam Worentetu, Rotary Ghana, in partnership with the media and corporate institutions referred to as “change makers,” is seeking to stimulate significant positive change in the attitude of Ghanaians towards punctuality and time management through targeted activities.
The District Governor said that his outfit has partnered people and bodies that are committed to stimulating a change in attitude.
“As a country we need to add value to ensure better management of it, the District Governor indicated.
He expressed hope that with its current membership of over 1,300 Rotarians in 42 clubs in all 10 regions, Rotary Ghana was bound to make significant impact with its sensitization project to ensure complete attitude change.
“Already, Rotary International, since its establishment more than a decade ago, has won the admiration of both benefactors and the world body as a club which has committed itself to doing good in the world through conflict resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and now economic and community development,” he noted.
Speaking on the topic, ‘Impact of Effective Time Management on National Development,’ South Korea’s Ambassador in Ghana, Lyeo Woon-Ki said punctuality and time management in an industrialized society is paramount for personal success and national development.
“Time is a concept of moving forward without stopping, time on its own does nothing but has an invisible power and effect, it changes everything and is a limited resource for one time use,” he noted.
Lyeo Woon-Ki explained that officials, guests and other people who are punctual to events are respectful and thoughtful.
He further indicated that developed countries such as South Korea have policies to promote punctuality and time management, adding that the time has come for Ghanaians to achieve global recognition and progress.
Other Rotary executives at the launch included past Rotary International Director, Sam Okudzeto, District Governor Nominee, Jeffrey Afful and past President, Rockson Dogbegeh.
