Woman Loses Head In Gory Accident

A 45-year-old female passenger on board a Benz Sprinter bus with registration number GE 5061-11, had her head chopped off when the vehicle got involved in a fatal accident near Akoti junction in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region on Sunday.

The body of Madam Margaret Simpson was sent to the Winneba Government Hospital for autopsy while the injured persons were conveyed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment.

Briefing DAILY GUIDE on the accident, the Regional Manager of the Road Safety Commission, Stephen Anokye, said it happened at about 7:10 pm when the driver of a Toyota Hiace with registration number GR 5164 with 15 passengers on board from Accra direction and heading towards Mankessim, attempted to overtake five vehicles ahead of him.

Mr Anokye stated that on reaching a section of the road about 20 meters to Akoti junction, the Toyota Hiace driver saw the Sprinter laden with passengers from the opposite direction and that to avoid a collision, swerved the vehicle and eventually grazed the rear of the Sprinter, resulting in the accident.

He added that it took the police 30 minutes before they found the severed head.

The two drivers, this paper was told, would assist the police in their investigation.
