THE Kwabenya police have apprehended a 26-year-old man for allegedly masterminding the shooting incident that led to the death of two persons at Taifa Burkina, a suburb of Accra.

Suspect Gideon Ofosu was allegedly fighting over a woman with one of the deceased persons (yet to be identified) which resulted in the shooting incident.

One other deceased person, believed to be a friend to the suspect – also yet to be identified – was lynched by an angry mob after their kinsman was shot.

Twenty-three people have been arrested already in connection with the incident, which was started by a brawl over a woman, according to the police.

The pump action gun used in the killing of his rival has since been retrieved by the police from Gideon after saving his life from the mob.

The madina Divisional Crime Officer, Superintendent Joseph Oppong confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE.

Gedeon Ofosu was apprehended in the process after calm had been restored in the area.

Gideon, according to residents, earlier engaged in a fight with the deceased person, who also operated a drinking spot in the area but they were separated.

Gideon, who claimed he was hit with a broken bottle by his rival, reportedly rushed to his house at ashongman estate to arm himself with a pump action gun only to return to Taifa Baukina to attack the man.

He was in the company of another friend (being the second deceased person) but he was not armed.

upon getting to the bar of his rival, another fight ensured but residents again separated them and subsequently sent the man to his room.

The suspect then stood outside, allegedly aimed at victim’s window and shot through it indiscriminately. unfortunately, a bullet hit the victim in the process inside the room, leading to his death.

Residents who got infuriated by Gideon’s action attempted to attack him, but since he was armed, they could not do so.

They then reportedly vented their anger on the suspect’s friend and butchered him to death.

Both bodies have been sent to the Police Hospital for preservation as investigations are still ongoing.

Superintendent Joseph Oppong said Gideon was yet to give his statement to the police, but he was in custody.
