Police Discover Mansion Of East Legon Robber

Suspect Daniel Owu on admission at the Police Hospital

Police intelligence has led to the discovery of a huge mansion, vehicles and a cattle ranch put up by a dreaded armed robber who has been terrorizing residents of East Legon.

Suspect Daniel Owu, aka ‘Dead’, 25, was shot after engaging the police in a gun battle at East Legon on March 2, 2018.

He was said to have broken into a car of a victim at East Legon and stole valuables including unspecified amount of money and laptop, but was spotted by personnel from the National Swat team, then patrolling the area.

Suspect, in an attempt to escape with his accomplice on a motorbike, engaged the police in a fierce gun battle. The Police returned fire and in the process, he was hit by a bullet and fell. His accomplice, according to police, managed to escape and is yet to be arrested.

He is currently on admission at the Police Hospital receiving treatment but on police guard.

The Director General of the National Intelligence Directorate, Commissioner of Police (COP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno said suspect and his cohorts have been attacking victims within East Legon and its environments.

On March 2, 2018, suspect Owu and his accomplices broke into the vehicle at East Legon and were about to make away with some stolen items when a police patrol team patrolling the area, chanced on them.

“The dreaded armed robber, ‘DEAD,’ started firing at the police in a bid to escape. Personnel returned fire and in the process, he was hit by a bullet and fell from the motorbike.”

He said the police quickly disarmed him and rushed him to the Police Hospital for treatment.

Police Intelligence later led to the seizure of a Toyota Yaris saloon car suspect has been using for his nefarious activities and the discovery of a cattle ranch suspect owns at a village between Aburi and Nsawam.

“We have also been able to locate a huge mansion he has put up at Amasaman and recovered his Toyota Highlander and are yet to discover other properties he allegedly acquired through his robbery activities.”

He said the police are following due process to confiscate the items.
