NIB Supports 23rd GJA Awards

The National Investment Bank (NIB) recently presented a cheque for GH¢100,000.00 to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in support of the 23rd edition of the GJA Awards.

The General Manager of Operations and Technology at NIB, Evans Amartey, made the presentation on behalf of the bank.

In his speech, he commended GJA for ensuring professionalism, high standards and competence in journalism.

He said the media played a critical role in protecting the interest of the vulnerable in society and served as the mouthpiece for the voiceless.

This, according to him, is key to all-inclusiveness in national development.

Mr. Amartey indicated that the input of journalists has deepened the country’s democracy by enhancing citizens’ participation in national issues.

He, therefore, entreated GJA to continue playing its watchdog role to further ensure that members adhere to high professional standards.

He added that NIB was happy to be associated with the GJA Awards since it contributes towards responsible journalism as well.

Affail Monney, the GJA President, received the cheque on behalf of the association and was very thankful to the management of NIB for the support.

He gave assurance that the money would be used to further enhance the activities of the association to enable members play their gate-keeping role in the years ahead.
