Some top members of KATH launching the newsletter
THE KOMFO Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has launched its newsletter, ‘KATH News’, to serve as the official mouthpiece to reach out to its publics.
The 16-page newsletter would be published periodically, and it is expected to help bridge the communication gap that exists between the hospital and its major stakeholders to ensure progress.
‘KATH News’ would be managed by an 11-member editorial board, including Dr. Collins Kokuro, Kwame Frimpong, Augustine Acheampong, Dr. Emmanuel Kumah, Sandra Agyeman, Mrs. Margretta Odame-Antwi, among others.
Apart from the newsletter, KATH has also launched a website and other social media platforms, all with the sole intention of drawing the hospital closer to its clients, especially patients who want treatment at the hospital.
Speaking at the function, Dr. Oheneba Owusu-Danso said KATH is determined to improve its communications with its stakeholders, and he is optimistic that the newsletter, website and social media platforms would help.
“”Effective communication is said to the life-blood of any successful organisation. No institutional growth can be sustained without enhanced, effective and efficient internal and external communication on its operations,” he stated.
According to him, KATH used to have a newsletter, but it went dead for almost five years ago, and his administration decided to revive it.
“KATH News, the website www.kathhsp.org and the remaining social media platforms such as www.facebook.com/kathhospital and Twitter handle www.twitter.com/komfo anokye are here to stay,” he said.
He added that plans had also been put in place to “developing an app to further engage the public and would-be clients on our clinical services to facilitate a more reliable appointment system.”
Dr. Owusu-Danso said complaints and inquiry desks had been created, adding that the hospital had also re-introduced suggestion boxes at strategic places to allow their stakeholders to reach out to management.
“The KATH Public Affairs Unit, led by the workaholic Kwame Frimpong, deserves special commendation for his tireless efforts to make the KATH newsletter’s dream to become a reality,” he disclosed.
