Police in Northern Ghana have arrested 11 foreign nationals allegedly engaged in prostitution in Tamale.
The arrests are aimed at controlling criminal activities in Tamale.
The suspected prostitutes were arrested at various joints in the metropolis.
Addressing the media, the Northern Regional Crime Officer, Supt. Otuo Acheampong, said there was no Ghanaian among the suspects.
Supt. Acheampong indicated that investigations were still ongoing.
He was quick to add that during investigations should they establish that the suspects do not have the necessary documents to live in Ghana, they will be handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service(GIS).
The crime officer sent a warning to criminal elements in the region to desist from their activities, adding that anybody arrested will be dealt with severely by the law.
Some of the suspects who spoke to DGN Online, said they were “forced” to engage in prostitution.
