7,327 Ghanaians in Volta Region Partake in Early Voting

Security personnel, the media and other groups in the Volta Region are participating in the 2020 Special Voting exercise today, December 1, 2020.

In all, 7,327 eligible voters are expected to partake in the exercise in all 18 constituencies of the Volta Region.

Those partaking in the exercise also include staff of electoral commission officials and some electorates with special duties who are casting their votes at the 28 special voting centers in the region.

At the Ho Central Constituency, the exercise took place at the Electoral Commission Office polling station A and B.

As of 9:00 am 254 voters had cast their vote in Ho; (the two polling stations) out of a total of 1,472 registered voters.

At the Electoral Commission Polling Station A, 153 voters have exercised their franchise out of a total of 737 registered voters on the special voting register. While 101 out of 735 voters had cast their votes at polling station B.

The presiding officers for polling station A and B Mr. Simon Nayo and Mr. Kosi Kosipa respectively noted that the process so far has been smooth without any challenges and all the Covid-19 protocols were being observed.

“Voting started at exactly 7:00am and the turnout is encouraging,” they added.

The Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Edward Oduro- Kwarteng who monitored the exercise assured the public that the security agencies are ready and poised to ensure a smooth and peaceful elections.

Meanwhile, the NPP Parliamentary candidate for Ho Central, Prosper Pi-Bansah was worried that some voters abstained from the parliamentary ballots after casting the Presidential ballot.
