VICE PRESIDENT Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has indicated that the government is taking a bold decision to provide hospitals in over 90 districts across the country which do not have such facilities.

The Vice President disclosed this when he inspected an ongoing Agenda 111 project at Wulensi in the Nanumba South District of the Northern Region during a two-day tour of the region.

“The Agenda 111 Project is a bold decision because government has decided to ensure that every district in Ghana gets a district hospital across the country, and Nanumba South is one of the beneficiaries,” Dr. Bawumia stated.

Dr. Bawumia revealed that about 87 Agenda 111 projects have started across the country, adding that 27 of the projects are in the five regions of the North, and eight in the Northern Region.

He encouraged the contractors to ensure that they complete the projects on time to help enhance health care delivery in the country.

“I am very proud and glad that after 60 years of independence the President has taken this bold initiative and has decided that we address the challenges in the health sector and by the grace of God we will finish the projects,” he added.

Earlier in the day, he called on the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Na Abubakari II, at the Gbewa Palace.

The Ya Na lauded government for the numerous developmental projects in the five regions of the north.

“Today, we have countless infrastructure such as roads, markets, factories, hospitals, schools among others. Your interest of seeing the north developed will always be remembered. I will like you to continue to be a good loyal servant of Ghana,” the Ya Na said.

He, however, appealed to government to ensure that the Yendi Water Project starts on time to help address the water crisis situation in the area.
