The Osu Presbyterian Old Students Association (OPOSA) 1973 year group has donated 15 desktop computers and accessories to its alma mater.
The donation which took place at the school premises yesterday was to enhance students’ ability to think critically and solve problems creatively using computers.
Chairman of the Planning Committee, OPOSA 1973, Jonas Sowah Quaye, said the computers were to complement the existing ones to enhance teaching and learning.
Stating the numerous benefits of the computer in the 21st Century, Mr. Quaye said the computers when efficiently used will enhance communications throughout the world, enhancing knowledge in research among other benefits.
‘Upon request by the headmaster to purchase the computers which were in dire need by the school we did not hesitate to get them as we know the enormous benefits our students will derive from it,” he said.
Mr. Quaye urged the managers of the school to adopt a maintenance culture to prolong the usage of the computers, adding,’ We hope to add more to the ones we just donated to meet the target population’.
Currently, the 73 year group has adopted the ICT laboratory of the school and has renovated it as well in addition to the supply of computers.
The Headmaster of Osu Presbyterian Senior High School, Mr. Vincent Esoah on his part applauded the OPOSA group for their tireless effort in support of the developmental project of the school.
Mr. Esoah pledged to maintain the donated items and called on the government and non-governmental organizations to support the school with other infrastructure development to enhance quality education.
The donation was held in commemoration of the 50th anniversary celebration of OPOSA 73 under the theme, “Presbyterian Secondary Education: A catalyst for professionalism, progress, and prosperity”.
