Josiah Amponsah Adjei, artiste manager who is also a lab technician, has appealed to event organizers in the country to feature more local artistes on their shows instead foreign artistes.
He claims that showcasing local artistes at concerts will support the growth of our own musicians and music rather than that of foreign acts.
He added that local artistes have difficulties getting their music noticed and are frequently overlooked by event promoters.
He emphasized that artiste management was an important step that might address issues with the Ghanaian music industry’s lack of international exposure, and he urged creatives to take a keen interest in it.
Ghanaian music, he said is progressively losing popularity because radio and television hosts, among other key players in the music industry, have not been willing to support it.
He therefore accused the event planners of failing to take local performers seriously.
The artiste manager, who has collaborated with several industry heavyweights, urged his peers to boost Ghana’s tourism industry by filming their music videos in some of the nation’s tourist attractions.
In a chat, he counseled against the division of the travel and tourism sectors, noting that the expansion of one guarantees the success of the other and that, thus, it is critical for creatives to support the expansion of tourism as well.
He disclosed that he intended to hold a number of seminars to give young people and artists the tools they need to overcome the obstacles in the business.
He said that working with artistes from other countries will help elevate the artiste’s brand and assist local artistes in promoting their songs and brands on the worldwide music scene.
