Nigerian Afrobeat star, Oxlade, has revealed that he feels more appreciated in Ghana than in his home country, Nigeria.

Speaking about his career and decision to collaborate with Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie on his debut album, ‘Oxlade from Africa’, the singer expressed his deep connection with Ghana.

Oxlade reflected on his experience with the music industry in both countries stating, “If I’m being honest with you, Ghana has shown me more love than Nigeria.”

Oxlade also addressed his recent controversial posts on social media platform X, where he spoke about being blackmailed and boycotted by some established figures in the Nigerian music scene.

He clarified that his frustrations stemmed from his dislike of industry veterans trying to control his career path.

“I hate the mindset of people trying to play god. When they feel like they can determine your trajectory,” Oxlade explained.

He added that some individuals take offence if they perceive he has not shown them enough respect in public interactions.

Despite these challenges, Oxlade remains optimistic about his music, and his collaboration with Sarkodie marks a strong connection to the Ghanaian music scene.
