Simon Osei Mensah
A 65-YEAR-old man, has been apprehended in Kumasi for allegedly mimicking the voice of former Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, to insult northerners.
Adjei Nkansah aka ‘Akomadan Adjei Nkansah’, the suspect, reportedly imitated the voice of the ex-minister and rained unprintable words on northerners without provocation.
The suspect, who recorded the audio in 2018, then went into hiding for eight years. After years of searching, the suspect was eventually arrested from his hideout last Thursday.
The police in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, are yet to prefer the necessary charges against suspect Akomadan Adjei Nkansah and possibly haul him to court to face the law.
Audio
In the audio in question, a man was heard mimicking the voice of Mr. Osei Mensah. Without provocation, he then insulted Joshua Hamidu Akamba, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) member from the northern part of the country.
The man, after insulting Akamba, then extended his insults to all northerners in the country, as he took them to the cleaners.
The audio was then attached with the picture of Mr. Osei Mensah to make it seem that the voice on the recorded audio was indeed that of the former Ashanti Regional Minister.
The audio went viral on social media platforms, and it certainly dented the positive image of the ex-regional minister, as it portrayed him to be someone who hates northerners.
Minister Fights Back
The ex-minister, who is also a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosomtwe in the Ashanti Region, consistently denied being the one in the audio, but sections of the public still didn’t believe his assertion as they accused him of being tribalistic.
According to Osei Mensah, since the fake audio came out in 2018, the public always pointed accusing fingers at him whenever an ethnocentric issue pops up in the country.
Threat Exposes Suspect
As all his efforts to clear his name proved futile for eight years, Simon Osei Mensah, who claimed to be traumatised by the audio, decided to curse the one behind the audio publicly.
He publicly cursed that the man who imitated his voice to insult northerners in order to dent his image would go mad in a year’s time if he fails to come out publicly to apologise.
Mr. Osei Mensah also said on radio that the children and grandchildren of the suspect, whose weird act had clearly traumatised him (Osei Mensah), would also go mad.
According to Osei Mensah, few days after the curse threat, the suspect, who has been hiding for eight years, suddenly started sending insulting words on his (Osei Mensah’s) WhatsApp page.
“I issued a statement where I said the person who recorded the audio, if he doesn’t show his face, and own up the audio and apologise to me, my family, Ghanaians in general, especially people from the north, I will pray to God to make him mad, including his children, grandchildren and generations yet unborn.
“Afterwards, I had an interview on radio and I repeated the same curse on radio. Instead of coming out to apologise, the suspect rather chose to send an audio to Kofi Jumah, ex-Asokwa MP, where he insulted me, Nana Akufo-Addo, the late Lumba, Kusi Boafo and Kofi Jumah. He also admitted that he is the one who insulted the northerners in the viral audio.
“The suspect, who didn’t feel remorse, also sent the same insulting audio which he had sent to Kofi Jumah to me,” Osei Mensah informed the DAILY GUIDE in an interview.
Police Report
Mr. Osei Mensah said he immediately lodged official complaint with the police in Kumasi, “with supporting information including the audio that the man sent to my personal phone to insult me and other NPP gurus.”
According to him, the police then tracked the suspect, and they eventually arrested him on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
“At the police headquarters, he admitted that he was the one who insulted the northerners on the viral audio in the presence of police, people who accompanied me and his own lawyers,” Mr. Osei Mensah added.
