The Electoral Commission (EC) has set Saturday, July 16, 2016 for the Abetifi by-election in the Eastern Region.
The by-election follows the death of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Peter Wiafe Pepera.
The Commission had earlier set July 19, 2016 for the electoral exercise.
Amadu Sulley, EC deputy chair, Operations, in a statement said the change had become necessary to make way for the planned exhibition of the provisional voter register starting on July 18, 2016.
He said votes in respect of the by-election will open at all polling stations from 7am and close at 5pm.
“All contesting parties have been given due notice of the change and the Commission has put adequate measures in place to ensure smooth electoral exercise,” Mr. Sulley disclosed.
