Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
In a passionate appeal, Nana Obrempong Akwasi Amo Tweretwie, Chief of Abirem and Gyaasehene of the Kotoku Paramountcy, has called on Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to establish an agricultural university in the Abirem constituency.
Speaking at the newly constructed New Abirem Durbar grounds, the chief emphasized the need for the university, citing the area’s potential for agricultural growth and development.
He expressed optimism that the university would not only focus on agriculture but also incorporate other fields like mining and engineering.
The chief’s plea was made during Dr. Bawumia’s stakeholder engagement with religious organizations in Birim North on Wednesday, August 21.
He praised the Vice President’s initiatives, particularly the free SHS policy, and expressed confidence in his leadership.
In addition to the university, Nana Obrempong Akwasi Amo Tweretwie also requested that the Birim North District be granted Municipal status, citing its impressive internal revenue generation.
He noted that the district’s current status hindered its growth and development.
Furthermore, the chief appealed to Dr. Bawumia to assist in expanding the Abirem Government Hospital, which serves several districts in the area.
The Vice President’s visit to the region has sparked hopes for development and growth, with the chief’s requests resonating with the community’s needs and aspirations.
