Abudu and Andani families marching in Tamale
The sons and daughters of Dagbon, made up of the Abudu and Andani families, have embarked on a peaceful demonstration in the Tamale metropolis to plead with their leaders to allow the process of the funerals of the late Yaa-Naa’s to go on peacefully.
They expressed their happiness and gratefulness to the Otumfuo-led committee of eminent chiefs to finally end the Abudu-Andani fracas.
“We are happy that our fathers, Nanima, and elites of Dagbon have listened to our clarion call, we are happy that tour clarion call, we are happy that the two factions have decided with Otumfuo -led Committee to end the fracas which generations upon generations would celebrate this epoch as the turning point of Dagbon,” they revealed.
Some of the placards displayed read, ‘let’s end this once and for all’, ‘Dagbon needs peace for development’, ‘Abudus and Andanis are brothers and not enemies’, ‘the youth are in support of the roadmap to peace’, among others.
The sons and daughters of Dagbon called on their fathers to use their wisdom to jaw-jaw if there are still any issues to bring finality to the Dagbon issues.
The Dagbon youth appealed to their fathers and royals to call on the youth groups to cooperate with the REGSEC in ensuring peace before, during and after the funerals of the late overlords.
The chairman of the youth, Alhaji Jagbo Baako, assured REGSEC, the Otumfuo-led committee and all the actors in the peace journey that they are ready to cooperate.
“Let the security deal decisively with any youth who may wish to play intransigence, if they are not tire, we are,” he stated.
They urged the Abudu and Andani gates to respect the terms of the final roadmap to peace because students, women, children, aged, vulnerable and businessmen in Dagbon have a full assurance of hope and prosperity.
“Do us a favour of compromising and give peace a chance, all our ancestors from Na Gbewa through Na Mahamadu IV and Na Yakubu Andani II must all have rest now. Dagbon must reawake from its long slumber,” the youth pleaded.
The funeral rites, which are expected to last for two weeks, will commence on December 14 and end on December 28, 2018, after which the Abudus will leave the Gbewa Palace peacefully.
The Andanis will also take their turn at the Gbewa Palace to organise the funeral rites of the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani from January 4 to January 8, 2019.
