African American Concept (AFAM), a US-based hair product giant, has held yet another successful trade show at the Trade Fair Centre, La, in Accra.
This year’s edition succeeded in drawing 2,500 hair stylists, and for the first time 400 barbers joined the fast-growing show.
Among the high-profile dignitaries who graced the event that showcased seven brands of AFAM were Second Lady Samira Bawumia, H.E Robert Jackson, US Ambassador to Ghana, Philippa Baafi, among others.
The Vice President of AFAM, Korkor Akoto, pointed out in a post event interview that his outfit will fly on the successes of last Tuesday’s edition to add one more pavilion to next year’s event.
Korkor Akoto, who is also the International Sales Manager of AFAM, indicated that next year’s edition will include fashion, make-up and competing brands, saying, “We have the numbers and we believe in sharing, we have 10 skeletal staff in Ghana, and l must admit, they are doing okay as far as distribution is concerned.”
Mrs Bawumia lauded the efforts of the hairdressers and barbers in enhancing looks.
She mentioned that “this is a noble profession, and it is our prayer that you succeed. Government is providing platforms to ensure that you succeed; when that happens, it places you in a position to employ people, that is job creation.
“I will do all l could to support you in your respective fields of endeavour.”
H.E Jackson praised AFAM profusely for their track record, having been in business for 30 years. He revealed that job creation in Ghana and his native country remains his top most priority.
The US ambassador also commended AFAM for being a trusted supplier to the Ghanaian market.
There was a reduction on AFAM’s products to the professionals for their clientele for Christmas.
The annual event will be replicated in Kumasi, Cape Coast and Takoradi next year.
This year’s saw an all expense-paid trip to the US (Chicago) plus a $1,000 spending money special raffle draw opportunity for one of the hair stylists.
Some AFAM products include Vital Olive, Shea Butter and Soy Organics.
