The wife of the late Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko, over the weekend filed her nomination at the Electoral Commission (EC) to contest the seat of her late husband who died in November last year.

The wife of the late MP, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, who is running on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is set to face opposition from the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Delali Brempong, in the upcoming by-election slated for January 31, 2019.

In an interview with DAILY GUIDE after filing her nomination papers, she indicated that she has the desire of continuing with the developmental projects started by her late husband, which include the completion of a district hospital, rehabilitation of the Santana market and the completion of the Dzorwulu-Abelenkpe road.

She also intends to initiate an emergency response project so as to improve security, introduce economic projects to improve livelihoods and also champion the issue of sanitation in order to make the constituency one of the cleanest in the Greater Accra Region.

“Since my area is among the citadel of the higher learning in Ghana, my tertiary educational fund and scholarship will assist the brilliant but needy dubbed ‘Ayawasonians’ to attain greater heights,” she added.

The NPP candidate holds MBA Marketing (UGBS, Legon), ??B.A Entrepreneurship?(GIMPA) and is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) ??of Lymens Medical Supplies in Accra.

She is a board member of the Minerals Commission and holds other leadership positions, including Vice Chairperson of Pharmaceutical Importers & Wholesalers Association, Ghana, as well as Executive Member, Chamber of Pharmacy Ghana since 2016.
