Akua Donkor at the police station
Controversial politician, Akua Donkor, has been nabbed by the police in Kumasi for allegedly defrauding a certain lady to the tune of GH¢10,000.
She reportedly took the money from one Ama Yeboah with a firm promise of giving her a parcel of land at a certain area in the Ashanti Region.
However, some people reportedly claimed that the land belongs to them and not Madam Akua Donkor.
Akua, after purportedly pocketing the huge cash, went into hiding without giving the land to the complainant as promised.
But luck eluded her on Monday as Madam Ama Yeboah caused her arrest when she spotted her (Donkor) at the Kumasi High Court area.
Akua Donkor Fights Back
Madam Akua Donkor has insisted that she is a victim of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government’s political witch-hunt, saying she is innocent.
“I am in this situation because I have decided to fight the NPP administration,” the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) founder maintained.
“The NPP’s closure of certain radio stations and the decision to sell the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) were condemned by me.
“I believe the NPP wants to frustrate me because of my constant criticism of their bad policies, but I am not bothered,” she stated.
Akua Donkor said she doesn’t know the complainant from anywhere and so she was surprised about the false charge labelled against her.
She is very close to former President John Mahama. She even embarked on foreign trips with Mahama’s delegation when he was the head of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
Addressing the media after her arrest, Madam Akua Donkor stated that she has no ill-feeling against President Akufo-Addo.
She, however, said she would not hesitate to condemn the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration if it fails to deliver on its promises.
Still on her arrest, Akua Donkor said she was detained at the Central Police Station for several hours without being questioned.
As at the time of filing this report, she was being taken away to the Tafo Nhyiaeso Police Station to assist in investigations.
