Members of Patriotic Intellectuals (PI) made up of some lecturers of the Takoradi Technical University have maintained that President Akufo-Addo should be applauded for his good works which have transformed the country’s economy positively.
“We share in the belief and conviction of Ghanaians that President Akufo-Addo has performed well in his first term as President of the Republic, hence deserves a second term to do more,” they stressed.
The lecturers stated this at the second edition of their “Ghana Must Know” series during which they highlighted some of the projects the current government has undertaken within the period of almost four years in the Western Region alone.
They focused on infrastructure interventions in kindergarten, basic schools, senior high schools, and technical and tertiary institutions in the region.
They also mentioned some interventions made in the cocoa growing areas and the oil and gas sector in the region.
School Blocks
Addressing the media, Michael Asare Appiah, Chairman of the PI said the government has completed and handed over a two-unit kindergarten classroom block for the Ewoku M/A Primary School in the Nzema East Municipality.
He also mentioned the construction of two-unit classroom block at Ekutuase D/A Primary School in Wassa East which had also been completed and handed over.

Cocoa Sector
He said the reopening of the restructured West Africa Mills Company (WAMCo), a cocoa processing company in the region, which collapsed under former President John Mahama, demonstrated the resolve by President Akufo-Addo to increase local cocoa processing and create jobs.
“Over 10,200 hectares of cocoa farms with swollen shoot virus disease are at various stages of the rehabilitation processes in both Western and Western North regions which had even created more than 5,000 jobs,” he added.
