Angry NPP Youth Open DCE’s Office Temporarily

Mohammed Bakor

Some angry youth of the New Patriotic Party in the Sissala West District in the Upper West Region on Thursday October 26, locked up the office of the Sissala West District Chief Executive, Mohammed Bakor, claiming he does not respect party structures and was rather working with opposition members and relatives.

The youth also said they were angry with the District Chief Executive for his role in the selection and appointment of a new District MASLOC Officer, instead of their preferred candidate for the position, Mr. Forka Mahamoud.

According to the president of the Concerned NPP Youth, Karim Gbemie, even though the New Patriotic Party youth have had series of problems with their District Chief Executive, they decided to go after him on Thursday because, he masterminded the rejection of Mr. Forka Mahamoud for the position and rather, got his friend who is not known to the party, to become the District MASLOC Officer.

In the view of the youth, the appointee does not deserve the position because he did not contribute to the New Patriotic Party’s campaign in 2016 and should therefore not benefit from their sweat.

According to the Youth Leader, Karim Gbemie, the Constituency Chairman Kanchuo Dramani had earlier met with the Mr. Bakor over the party’s choice of the MASLOC officer, but to their surprise, the DCE reacted rudely to the Chairman suggestion, hence their decision to attack the DCE and keep him out of office till their desires were met. Fortunately the DCE fled before the youth even got to the office.

Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report the youth had resolved to allow the DCE to work and the new MASLOC Officer to begin his work while they wait for the Regional Minister to address their grievances.

The Minister, according to Mr. Gbemie, has promised to get to the bottom of the matter and get a lasting solution to it
