Apotica Ghana, a leading IT provider in Ghana, has extended a humanitarian support to disadvantaged girls, populary known as kayayei, in Ghana to facilitate their wellbeing during the Holy month of Ramadan.
While appreciating the level of diversity and tolerance in Ghana, such as : The historic visit of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu to Christ the King Church in Accra, and continues visit of Dr.Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana to churches as a height of religious unity among various groups, The Country Director for the Bridgewater Project, used the opportunity to invite Apotica, for the grand Eid a-fitr celebration, where food, drinks, and sanitary pads would be shared for the kayayei, at Maamobi Market.
The Country Director for the Bridgewater Project, Mr. Yahaya Alhassan, said, the donation, from Apotica, is to provide food and drinks for the girls to break the Ramadan.
Mr. Alhassan explained that it’s also to boost Apotica’s distribution of sanitary pads, so that the girls can comfort themselves during their menstrual cycles, which has become expensive for them.
Mr. Alhassan therefore urged organizations to support them with more sanitary pads, to help the girls meet their needs as they go through their menstrual cycles.
“On the occasion of the Ramadan Iftar, the girls are schooled on dangers of unprotected sex and prevention of teenage pregnancy, which has been a challenge,’, he noted.
He used the opportunity to thank the Managing Director of Apotica, Mr. Felix Nkansah, for the continued chain of support for what he call, ‘the deprived segment of the Ghanaian population’, and commended them also for their existing advocacy against domestic violence in Ghana.
Mr. Alhassan urged on Corporate bodies to follow the example of Apotica to bring smiles and future for the kayayei girls.
He said, the Bridgewater project provides future, and welfare to disadvantaged girls, children and orphans through: education and training, advocacy, and research.
