A tall list of prominent Chiefs from Kumasi in the Ashanti Region sent by Otumfuo Osei Tutu, and the Asantehemaa on Tuesday stormed the Peduase residence of the former President, John Agyekum Kufuor to sympathize with him over the death of his wife, Theresa Kufuor.
The chiefs dressed in black clothes accompanied by some queen mothers at their arrival took the centre stage of the funeral grounds to display the adowa cultural dance as customs and traditions demanded before the exchange of greetings with the beavered family at the one-week observance.
Aside from the Asante chiefs, other chiefs from the Eastern Region, especially the Akuapem Paramouncy, among others from other regions also stormed the Peduase residence of Mr. Kufuor in solidarity with him.
There was a lot of list of prominent public figures including politicians, clergymen, and Ambassadors who besieged Mr. Kufuor’s residence.
The one-week observance of the passing of former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s late wife, Theresa Kufuor is currently underway at the Peduase residence of the former President in the Akuapim South District.
Theresa Kufuor passed away on Sunday, 1st October 2023 at her home after battling a prolonged illness at the age of 88 years old.
President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday when speaking at a meeting with the family of the late former First Lady, said a state funeral would be held on November 16, 2023, for her since she deserves it.
On Wednesday, at the Peduase Lodge Residence of former President Kufuor, a lot of dignitaries including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, his wife, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and wife, Samira Bawumia, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament among other top wigs of the ruling party stormed there to commiserate with the family.
The former Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen and his wife, Patricia and also Papa Kwesi Nduom, were there to mourn with the bereaved family.
