The Ashiaman Constituency Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has rejected the decision by some individuals seeking support for Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang to be selected as the Vice Presidential candidate for the 2024 election.
Acco rding to the party in a statement issued and signed by the Constituency Secretary, Allan De-graft Quansah the endorsement by the so called individiuals is not an official endorsement by the constituency and does not represent the majority views as purported by the group.
A group of individuals in the Ashiaman constituency last week held a press conference organized and called on the leadership of the party, and the NDC flagbearer, John Mahama to re-select his former running mate, Jane Naana Opoku Agyemanv as the Vice Presidential candidate for the 2024 election.
But the constituency, in reaction says, ‘’We believe in the democratic processes within our great party, and trust our leader, John Dramani Mahama, to make the best decision for our collective success.
We urge all party members to refrain from putting undue pressure on our leader and to allow him the freedom to select a vice-presidential candidate without any external influences’’.
‘’Our party’s strength lies in unity, and we must prioritize our shared goals over individual interests.
Together, we can achieve a brighter future for our constituency and the nation. We hereby call on the media to disregard the press conference and disregard the statements made by the group,’’ the statement underscored.
