The Ashanti Regional Football Association (ARFA) has officially launched the U15 Girls Regional Colts League, reinforcing its commitment to growing women’s football at the grassroots level across the region.

The competition got underway with opening fixtures staged at selected centres, drawing participation from young players representing several districts.

The matches offered emerging talents an early platform to display their abilities and compete for regional recognition.

There was strong turnout at the venues, with coaches, match officials, parents, and football supporters present to cheer on the young players and create an energetic matchday atmosphere.

Officials of the Ashanti Regional FA, speaking during the launch, highlighted the league’s role as a key development pathway for young female footballers.

According to them, the Colts competition is designed to help identify promising talents early and provide them with structured training and competitive exposure.

They explained that the initiative aligns with the FA’s wider strategy to deepen the growth of women’s football by investing in youth structures and creating more organized opportunities for girls to progress both as athletes and individuals.

The U15 Girls Regional Colts League will continue over the coming weeks, with fixtures scheduled to be played across multiple centres within the Ashanti Region.

With the successful start of the tournament, ARFA has taken another step toward strengthening the foundation of women’s football and promoting greater participation of young girls in the sport across Ghana.
