Baba Jamal and Ama Sey
Mohammed Ahmed Baba Jamal, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia Constituency, has launched a blistering attack on Seth Ofosu, District Chief Executive (DCE) of Denkyembuor, for allegedly taking credit for projects he initiated in the district.
He also vented his spleen on Mercy Adu Gyamfi, aka Ama Sey New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP, who unseated him, saying she is part of the agenda to discredit him.
At a press conference held at the office of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Akwatia to set the records straight, Baba Jamal bashed some chiefs and assembly members of the area for remaining silent and allowing the Akufo-Addo administration to take credit for the development projects the previous Mahama administration initiated.
“If we don’t speak it will appear they did all the water projects, roads and all that you see here. There were times some of the chiefs that I asked to make a follow up to some projects gave flimsy excuses like they don’t have fuel or the car had broken down,” he declared.
The aggrieved former MP, who was also a deputy minister under President Mahama, said he could have brought more developmental projects to the district but for what he termed the lackadaisical attitude of some chiefs, opinion leaders and elements of the then opposition NPP.
He said he would not allow Mr Seth Ofosu and the MP Ama Sey to lay claim to projects he initiated while in office.
“There are many projects that were executed by me and the NDC government, which were at various levels of completion and it is prudent for the public to know about happenings in the district,” he added.
He claimed the NPP government had completed some of the projects he initiated without giving him the due credit.
The Demkyembour DCE, in a telephone interview, said his outfit would respond to the allegations leveled by Baba Jamal.
