Bibiani MP’s Office Vandalised

Alfred Obeng

THE OFFICE of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani Anwiaso Bekwai in the Western North Region, Alfred Obeng, has been vandalised by some disgruntled youth.

Secretary to the MP, Augustina Asamoah, who confirmed the incident, said she was at the office with the MP’s special assistant, Kwame Bekoe, when the unfortunate incident occurred.

She said four well-built men entered the office and started destroying property.

“When the four macho men were entering, I was going to purchase some medicine. But I returned and followed them to know what their mission was. They broke the glass door and got my boss injured. Nobody knows their intention for attacking us but the scene created suggested they had a bad intention,” she narrated.

She said she could recognise two of the attackers who are members of the NPP, adding, “I saw them during the polling station election.”

Assembly member for Sefwi Kogyina Electoral Area, Joseph Badu, corroborated the story and alleged that the thugs made away with GH¢33,900 cash and other valuables.

“We had about GH¢29,000 which the MP had left for the management of the office and an amount of GH¢4,900 being proceeds from some forms sold was also taken away,” he added.

Mr. Badu also accused the Communications Director of the NPP for the area, Jacob Anyimah, for leading the thugs to attack the office and taking away the money.

However, reacting to the accusation, Mr. Anyimah, denied attacking or leading people to attack the MP’s office.

He explained that there was an injunction on some of the polling station elections in the area and so he was accompanying a bailiff and two other persons to help locate the Communications Director to serve him.

“We had information that Kwame Bekoe was at the MP’s office, so we decided to lead the bailiff to the office to serve him.”

“When we got to the glass door, Bekoe decided to close it but the bailiff pushed it back and when Bekoe tried to close it again, the glass broke and cut his hands,” he added.
