The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kumbungu Constituency, Ras Mubarak, clashed with the Constituency Chairman, Abubakari Issaka, on radio over an amount of GH¢5,000 which was given out to the constituency during former President John Dramani Mahama’s tour of the Northern Region.
The Kumbungu MP has accused the constituency chairman of diverting part of the monies meant for party executives in the constituency.
According to him, the chairman took monies meant for 500 branch executives during Mahama’s tour of the constituency but the number that graced the occasion was not up to 500.
Ras Mubarak stressed that he has the responsibility to maintain the Kumbungu seat for the NDC and that would happen in 2020.
Meanwhile, Abubakari Issaka has denied the allegations levelled against him by Ras Mubarak.
According to the chairman, normally the MPs provide food for the executives and when they are leaving for their various homes, they are given GH¢10 each but this time around they decided to give them only cash.
He accused the MP of deceiving the party executives that he would give them a top up since the money they budgeted for the tour exceeded the amount.
“When we calculated, we had 84 branches; hiring of canopies and chairs amounted to GH¢7,000 and he said the money would be given to us when he comes to the constituency but he never did after the tour,” he added.
He challenged the MP to provide evidence that he diverted part of the money meant for the party executives in the constituency.
Ras Mubarak is already having issues with the youth of his constituency over his call for the legalization of marijuana popularly called wee.
