Gianluigi Buffon
Boca Juniors have targeted legendary Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and see striker Carlos Tevez as the key to any potential deal.
According to Radio Continental, Tevez has been tasked with convincing his old Juventus team-mate to switch Turin for Buenos Aires this summer.
Buffon looks to have won all he can with the Old Lady after his acrimonious exit from the Champions League recently; a straight red card in the dying seconds at the Bernabeu brought the curtain down on the one competition that Buffon has never won.
But Boca Juniors want the 40-year-old icon to help lead their charge to win the Copa Libertadores title by swapping Europe for South America in June.
Juventus season concludes on May 20 at home to Verona and Massimiliano Allegri’s side appear to have now taken firm control in the race for the Scudetto.
Napoli’s stalemate with AC Milan, coupled with Juve’s 3-0 win over Sampdoria on Sunday, sent Juventus six points clear on level games meaning Buffon edges closer to another Serie A title.
Tevez and Buffon were particularly close during the former Manchester United and City striker’s time in Turin and he may prove the sweetener to any move.
But after the disappointment that consumed the Italian icon after what he felt was a serious injustice in Madrid, Buffon may feel the fire burning inside him has gone out.
