Alhaji Kofi Owusu
An appeal has been made to all those who will be entrusted with some responsibilities to work extra hard to justify the creation of the six new regions in Ghana.
This was disclosed by Alhaji Kofi Owusu (popularly called Alhaji Didi), a business tycoon in Atebubu/Amanten Municipality in the Bono East Region when DAILY GUIDE interacted with him at his office.
Alhaji Didi has therefore cautioned officials and all workers who will work in the new region to take the prosperity of Bono East into accounts and discharge their duties effectively to benefit the people of the new region and the country as a whole.
Touching on the business aspect, Alhaji Didi said the creation of Bono East Region is good news to the business folks in the new region. He said the creation of the region would curtail the suffering of businesses, as well as the high cost of doing business in the region.
“When it comes to paying taxes, those of us who do business transactions in the Bono East Region find it inconvenient and much difficult because we need to travel from Atebubu, Yeji, Prang, Abease, Kejaji, Kwame Danso and Amanten to the Internal Revenue head office in the regional capital – Sunyani – to pay our taxes, and the inconveniences that associate with our business transaction are very disturbing,” he added.
According to Alhaji Didi, now that the capital of the new region would be closer to the aforementioned towns which form majority of Bono East, they have every reason to be happy. He said once this is achieved, it would help these catchment areas in their business transactions since businessmen would find it easy in dealing with the Ghana Revenue Authority.
He used the opportunity to thank President Akufo-Addo and the NPP administration for listening to Nananom who petitioned his office for the new region to be created. He also commended the MCE for Atebubu/Amanten for his hard work which has led to many developmental projects in the area.
