Nana Appiah Mensah, CEO of Menzgold
The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) has cautioned members of the public against claiming ownership of properties purportedly belonging to embattled gold collectibles firm, Menzgold Ghana Limited and its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly called NAM1.
It urged anyone in possession of assets of NAM1 and Menzgold to surrender them to the state to avert contempt of court charges.
EOCO made the call after it was granted a court order to secure all assets of Menzgold Ghana Limited and NAM1.
A release issued by Head of Public Affairs at EOCO, Jacqueline Avotri, on January 29, 2019, listed the properties which EOCO has been ordered to secure as landed properties, and vehicles of Menzgold Ghana Limited, Menzgold Office Complex, Zylofon Art Complex, Brew Marketing Consult, and Star Madrid Football Club.
The rest are Zylofon Music & Media Company Limited, Brew Energy Company Limited, G-Tech Automobile Service, two properties located at Trassaco Valley, which are on plot no. 315 and 337, as well as plot no. 54.
“By this news release, all employees of the affected companies, relatives and friends, who are in possession of any of such properties, are to surrender same by the authority of the High Court to the head office of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) and regional offices in their own interest.”
According to EOCO, failure to surrender any of such properties would constitute contempt of court which would attract the appropriate sanctions.
Frozen Assets
It would be recalled that EOCO recently announced that it had frozen bank accounts of NAM1 with three different banks.
DAILY GUIDE’s investigation revealed that in addition to the frozen account, EOCO has also seized over 40 luxurious cars and plush mansions belonging to NAM1.
NAM1 was arrested in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on December 7, 2018, in connection with an alleged $51 million fraudulent gold deal involving an Emirati firm – Horizon Royal Diamonds.
He is expected to face trial either on 3rd or 4th February 2019 in Dubai.
According to Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, Deputy Attorney General, who led the delegation to meet NAM1 in Dubai recently, the Menzgold boss was arrested in Dubai in connection with the alleged fraud case.
Checks by DAILY GUIDE revealed that following the announcement of the court order yesterday, some people have started disclosing information about properties they suspect to be owned by NAM1 and Menzgold.

Owing to the court order yesterday, reggae artiste and radio show host, Blakk Rasta, announced his final show on Zylofon FM (102.1), which belongs to Menzgold.
He also thanked listeners and brought an unexpected end to his popular Taxi Driver Show.
